History

The Ascot Racecourse is as old as they come. First established in 1711 by Queen Anne, the track has continued as the site to many important races. This is perhaps the most exciting part of the event as it is where Queen Elizabeth gets to watch the races. The Queen has been in attendance of the Royal Ascot since the very beginning of her reign, and it has become something of a staple. That said, getting into the royal enclosure is no mean feat as you’ll either need to be a member or a guest of a member. If you want to become a member, you’ll need to be sponsored by two existing members who can’t come from the same household.

Fashion

The Royal Ascot is renowned for its high fashion. It is an excellent event for all the royals and high standing individuals to show off their fashion sense. Also, the event has strict dress codes, so no t-shirt and jeans please. Men are required to wear socks while women are mandated to wear dresses and skirts at a respectable length. Food

The Royal Ascot is attended by thousands of people and tends to get pretty crowded. Therefore, buffets are a common sight to ease the stress of dealing with a crowd. Moreover, a lot of champagne flows during the event with a reported 56,000 bottles consumed every year and approximately 80,000 cups of tea.

Transportation

Driving to the Royal Ascot is easy enough, but keep in mind that you’ll need to pay about £40 for parking. Meanwhile, if you want to take a train, there are several options, including a dedicated Ascot express from London Waterloo.

With all of that said, ensure to have a bit of money on you for the trip as nothing comes cheap at this event.
