The Georgia deputies confirmed that a 13-year-old teen stole a Hyundai Elantra car using a viral technique with a USB cord.
13-Year-Old Teen Accused of Stealing a Car
Police authorities in Atlanta admitted that the crime rate of cars being stolen has slowly increased in the past few weeks. This is after a video went viral on how to start cars by just using USB and exploiting a security vulnerability in some variants of Hyundai and Kia vehicles that are sold in the U.S.
In a published article in FOX News, the 13-year-old teen refused to pull over the stolen car and led the police officers to chase them. It was estimated that the high-speed pursuit went up to 120 miles per hour. It was also found that the teen was with another 16-year-old teen.
Police authorities maneuver to stop the stolen car. The body camera footage showed how the apprehension and arrest were made. Both of the suspects were turned over to the juvenile authorities to face multiple charges that include car theft, felony fleeing, and attempting to elude as well as enter autos.

Hyundai Released a Statement
Hyundai admitted that there was an increase in stolen vehicles targeting some of their variants. The car company already sent letters to its customers and owners warning them of the scheme of the thefts, according to a report in NEWSWAV.
Meanwhile, Hyundai announced that they are offering free repairs to certain models. They also mentioned in their letter that they will fix the alarm and ignition. They will also add window stickers to warn the thieves that the cars are now more secure.
