Research shows that Michigan’s college enrollment numbers are dropping. In a new data from spring 2023 college enrollment, it shows that Michigan’s declined enrollment is among the worst in the country.
Across the nation, in the year 2023 there 0.5%college enrollment dropped in 2023, while in the country of Michigan, there are already 2.2%. college enrollment dropped and it is one of the worst cases they are facing right now.
he Vice president of the Michigan Community College Association, Erica Orians said in an interview that this is an urgent and very critical issue that needs to be addressed. She said that Michigan’s high population is one of the reasons why people are declining college enrolments. But, she said that Michigan has strong employment numbers. She added that some students after high school can go get any jobs and enter the labor market afterward decide to take college when they are financially ready that’s why college enrollment shrinks because some of the students much prefer to work after high school than to go to college because of financial issues and it is very alarming that it will become a big issue for the future of Michigan’s economy.

Michigan Fighting Against The Drop Of 2023 College Enrollment
She added that they should give more insights on how the students can earn more when they have a degree because most of the highest-paying jobs in Michigan require a four-year degree. She said that she is very positive to move forward with some solutions in order to stop the problem of college enrollment and actually turn things around.
