Sen. Bryan’s Thoughts on The Current Special Session
Last Monday, State Senator Bryan Hughes was contacted by the KETK for an interview. During the interview, Hughes was able to share his thoughts about the 88th Legislative Session and the ongoing special session. Hughes shared that a lot of “good stuff” is accomplished in the regular sessions and that these accomplishments are sometimes overlooked during the special sessions. Hughes added that he is proud of passing House Bill 4, which is the online privacy bill.
He also shared the progress of the property tax relief he is currently working on, where he is still finalizing its details. He stated that he is currently working on the total numbers for the homeowners and businesses, and how to execute it in general.

The state capitol could add a potential change in requiring state inspections for vehicles. Hughes argued that vehicle inspections would not have much of an impact on accidents since most of their causes are drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs. Hughes added that they would be delighted to get rid of this policy immediately in the state of Texas.
Special sessions have a maximum limit of 30 days, according to the website of the Legislative Texas Library. The current special session was called last 29th of May and come the 28th of June, the maximum limit will be reached.
