The diversity funding for the University of Wisconsin is being put on hold by Republicans as they want to dissolve said funding.
Diversity Funding in Danger
As reported by the Associated Press, Republicans in Wisconsin are currently putting the diversity funding of the University of Wisconsin since they aim to dissolve the funding. Robin Vos, the Assembly’s Speaker, stated that he expected that the diversity funding would be cut off by the budget-writing committee. He added that the cuts would amount to $32 million in total.
Vos added that the university should direct the funding to other areas that are “more supported” and “productive”, and that they hope they have the authority to remove the diversity funding. Governor Tony Evers and other Democrats are against the attempt to remove said funding.
