Monata’s legislature, which is controlled by Republicans, just relocated $899 million from the state’s budget to property and income taxes. If you became a resident of Montana after one year and if you paid your state taxes on time last 2020 and 2021, you should be qualified to receive a $1,250 for your taxes last 2021. Also, you should have your entire payment back if you fulfilled these requirements but paid less than $1,250 last 2021. The $1,250 limit is for single taxpayers. Married couples are eligible for twice the given limit.
Homeowners are qualified for up to $675 a year for the past two years of property taxes for their primary residence. If you paid less than the said amount from both years, you are eligible for a refund. Property tax payments are paid to county treasurers two times a year, with the payments due for May and November.

How To Qualify For The Montana Tax Rebates
According to the revenue department, the income tax rebates will be sent automatically to those who are qualified. The rebates will be either sent to your bank account or mailed to your address which is reflected in your account details. The income tax rebates could arrive in July.
As for the property tax rebates, you would have to apply for them before receiving them. Taxpayers can apply for property tax rebates through its online portal, TransAction. Alternatively, taxpayers can apply via a registration form during the given Aug. 15 2023 to Oct. 1 2023 application period. A second registration period for another round of rebates will be available next year on the same dates.
