West Hollywood workers will receive the highest minimum wage in the US. Several establishments in the state reduced employees due to low income and the approved hourly rate.

Compared to others, West Hollywood, California, gets the highest minimum wage in the US. According to The Guardian, the wage increase and 12 days of paid personal time were approved in 2021.

Before West Hollywood, Seattle had the highest minimum wage in the US in January, with more than $18 per hour.

Disagreeing on getting the highest minimum wage in the US

Since West Hollywood is considered to have the highest minimum wage in the US, business owners show disagreement against the issue.

Executive of La Boheme, Lucian Tudor, said they needed to cut their employees to 80 to save money and prevent fallbacks.

“These pay increases are about superficiality and about opportunistic politicians who are just trying to make a name for themselves,” Tudor said, according to ABC News. 

Since West Hollywood has the highest minimum wage, owners like Tudor suffer from the increase. 

The Los Angeles Times also revealed that some West Hollywood residents believe that getting the highest minimum wage in the US will not help every resident, as most of them are business owners. 

For some workers who will receive the highest minimum wage in the US, business workers will likely suffer more due to rising costs and the increased minimum wage. 

As West Hollywood has the highest minimum wage in the US, will workers be able to stand up for their businesses? The sources believe the government doesn’t understand how much an extra dollar can change people’s lives.
