The Indiana police officer who died after he was attacked by a detainee at the Indianapolis Adult Detention Center was strangled with handcuffs.
Indiana Police Officer Strangled With Handcuff To Death By A Detainee
A prisoner was allegedly killed choking an Indiana Police officer with a handcuff, this Indiana police officer was assisting him in a van but the victim is trying to escape.
According to Officer Shane Foley, the Indiana police officer victim was identified as Marion County Police Officer John Durm, 38 years old. He was killed during transporting an inmate in a van. He was rushed in the hospital but the suspect followed him and killed him there. The officer says that it is an intentional act of killing. Durm’s cause of death was “ligature strangulation” and it is under homicide case.
Durm is a tenured Indiana Police officer, who has a family, married with 4 children. The suspect was identified as Orlando Mitchell, a 34-year-old who killed Durm on Monday inside the van of the Adult Detention Center.

The happening was caught in a security dashcam of a van. It shows how Mitchell choke Durm with a handcuff until he died. Family and friends of the victim were very saddened by what happened and seeking justice. Mitchell has been in jail since September 2022, for killing his ex-girlfriend. There will be a further investigation about the case as of now the suspect is in police custody.
