YNW Melly may face execution after his double murder case deliberation
According to a report published by SC Now, rapper YNW Melly, 24, is accused of a double murder case on his two boyhood friends, and the jury in his double murder trial began deliberating Thursday afternoon in a courtroom in South Florida. If found guilty, YNW Melly could be executed.
After a little while, the jury took a break after some serious discussion on the double murder case; it was scheduled to resume deliberations on Friday morning.
Prosecutors from Broward County made their final statement on Thursday morning regarding the murder case that occurred in October 2018.
According to every version, they reminded the jury that YNW Melly was sitting in the seat where the deadly rounds had been fired from inside the Jeep where the victims had been shot.
Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, first gained notoriety in 2017. He later collaborated with Kanye West on the song “Mixed Personalities,” which was released in January 2019 and a month before Demons was detained on suspicion of murder.
In this double murder case, both Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. perished. Williams and Thomas belonged to the YNW collective, which went by the names YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, respectively.
YNW Melly’s double murder case and his alleged accomplice
According to a published article from ABC News, prosecutors claim that Demons shot and killed Williams and Thomas while they were riding in Cortland Henry’s Jeep, also known as YNW Bortlen, after a recording session in Fort Lauderdale.
Henry will face a separate trial despite being charged as an accomplice in the double murder case.
Prosecutors claimed that after the double murder case of Williams and Thomas, Demons and Henry took the bodies to a location close to the Everglades where they shot at Henry’s Jeep from the outside to give the impression that Williams and Thomas had been the victims of a drive-by shooting.
The defense team’s closing statement on Thursday afternoon about the double murder case centered on the fact that the shooting’s gun was never found. Additionally, they informed the jury that YNW Melly had no obvious motivation for this double murder case.
Defense lawyers stated that the prosecution’s claim that the shooting was a gang-related incident lacked credibility because Demons and the victims were close friends.
