The Imperial Police Department arrested a suspected arsonist after allegedly setting fire on three units in an abandoned structure in the area of LaBrucherie Road.
The Imperial Police Department arrested a 45-year-old man who allegedly set three units in an abandoned structure around LaBrucherie Road, on fire.
The abandoned structure that was set on fire last July 19 around 8:00 a.m., was the abandoned La Fuente subdivision.
The Imperial Police Department received a report from a person saying that they saw in a white tank top and black shorts, walked away from the abandoned subdivision right after the fire started. The Imperial Police Department immediately responded to the received report.
The Imperial Police Department stated that Sergeant Hernandez identified the alleged arsonist, by contacting the said man in the Walmart parking lot. The man was taken in custody for arson investigation and was later taken to the Imperial Police Department for further questioning.

The said 45-year-old man was admitted that he was indeed in one of the abandoned structures when it was caught on fire during the interview with detective Eladio Reyes.
In an Imperial Valley Press report, the Imperial Police Department identified the 45-year-old man as Roman Pestano. According to the Imperial Police Department Pestano was a homeless person.
The Imperial Police Department stated that Pestano was later taken to Imperial County Jail and will be facing the charges of one count each of Arson and Criminal Trespassing.
The Imperial Police Department wants to extend their thanks to the concerned citizens who reported and provided the information necessary in assisting the police on the said case.
