An 11-year-old Florida girl was taken into custody and charged with submitting false information that a man with a gun abducted her best friend, lodging a fake police report alleging the use of a handgun in a violent manner, and misusing 911 services.
It is a Prank on an 11-year-old Florida girl
Chitwood said the girl contacted 911 on Wednesday under a bogus name, saying she had been in an automobile pursuing a white van in which her 14-year-old friend was being held by a man with firearms.
In an interview with Sheriff Mike Chitwood of Volusia County, which includes Daytona Beach, the girl told investigators that she laid the call as part of a social media trend in which people report fake assaults to law enforcement agencies.
The girl claimed that it was part of her YouTube pranking activity because she believed it would be funny. The 11-year-old Florida girl called the cops to report a joke kidnapping.
Misusing 911 Services
According to the report published by The U.S. News, officers from around the county responded to the call, with a helicopter giving air support. Law enforcement later traced the 911 call to a property in Port Orange, about five miles south of Daytona Beach, where the 11-year-old was arrested.
A fine will also be imposed on the family of an 11-year-old Florida at the expense of law enforcement’s reaction.
