The gay dancer, O’Shae Sibley was stabbed to death in a fatal stabbing incident in a gas station in Brooklyn. The suspect of the said fatal stabbing was reportedly a 17-year-old teenager.
The teen suspect of the fatal stabbing was arrested and charged after he stabbed the 29-year-old dancer, O’Shae Sibley to death, in a gas station in Brooklyn.
According to the Police, two groups of people were arguing when the suspect allegedly stabbed Sibley. The suspect was charged with murder as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon during fatal stabbing incident.
A surveillance video caught Sibley having an argument with a group of men who came up to them demanding for them to stop dancing, outside the Midwood gas station on Saturday night.
The witnesses of the fatal stabbing stated that they were dancing along with Sibley when the said suspect walked up to them and allegedly made homophobic comments, before the fatal stabbing happened.
Otis Pena, a friend of O’Shae Sibley, shared in a Facebook video, of what happened during the fatal stabbing and he also stated in the video that Sibley was murdered because of being gay.

Witnesses stated that the suspect ran away after pulling out a knife and stabbed O’Shae Sibley, as he was trying to prevent the said argument from escalating.
According to NBC News article, law enforcement sources informed that the teen suspect turned himself in to a Brooklyn police station, and that the suspect has not been publicly identified.
New York City Mayor, Eric Adams stated that the fatal stabbing incident was clearly a hate crime.
Famous celebrities like Beyoncé, Whoopi Goldberg and Ellen Degeneres, have heard of the said fatal stabbing, and paid tribute to Sibley. It was said that before the fatal stabbing incident, Sibley was dancing to one of the music from Beyoncé’s Renaissance album.
This fatal stabbing incident was just one of the many hate crimes that are recently happening as anti-LGBTQ campaigns has been on the rise across the nation within last year.
