Daniel Wheeler, a professional wrestler who is currently a member of the AEW Tag Team Champions, made his court appearance on Friday in Orlando, Florida after being detained and arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm.
A warrant for Wheeler was issued on July 28, as he was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm that was allegedly committed the day before, according to court documents from Orange County, Florida that were provided to the Orlando Sentinel. On August 3, his attorneys entered a “not guilty” plea. Wheeler declined to show up at a pre-trial hearing. Friday marked his first court appearance.
The wrestling promotion responded to multiple media outlets, including Fightful, with the same statement: “AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities.” It is thought that Wheeler flashed a gun during the alleged incident. He didn’t know the other party, and there was no physical struggle.
