A man was shot and killed by a police officer in Charlotte on Sunday morning, turning a domestic dispute into a fatality.
According to WRAL News, after stabbing police officer, a woman was shot before a man was fatally shot on Sunday.
The 300 block of West Tremont Avenue in the Central Division was the scene of an officer-involved shooting, according to a Sunday morning alert from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
The department shared a video of CMPD Police Chief Johnny Jennings’ speech on X (formerly Twitter) after it took place on Sunday morning at the intersection of South Tyron Street and West Tremont Avenue.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call just before eight in the morning. According to Jennings, when the police arrived on the scene, they heard gunfire coming from inside the house.
According to the article from ABC News, officers attempted to arrest a man after forcing their way inside the house. The result was an altercation in which the suspect stabbing police officer in the neck. According to Jennings, the man cut the officer after grabbing a knife leading the suspect stabbing police officer.
The suspect was then shot by a different officer, who then left the scene. Jennings declared, “This is an unfortunate situation. “Domestic violence calls for service are always some of the most dangerous [situations] that officers can encounter,” as we frequently mention.
According to Jennings, the officer fired his weapon at the suspect because he “perceived an imminent and deadly threat.”
He said, “Officers did their jobs today and did what they had to do. But we must never minimize the loss of life that occurred today.
Both the woman who was shot and the officer who was stabbed were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
The inquiry is still ongoing.
The primary investigating agency in this incident will be the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. According to protocol, the officer who fatally shot the suspect has been placed on paid administrative leave while the CMPD Internal Affairs Bureau conducts a separate investigation.
