Murder Convict Escaped from Jail at Chester County Prison

Danelo Cavalcante, a murderer escaped from Jail on August 31. Police reported that he was spotted twice in his attempt to escape.

Escape From Jail

Pennsylvania State Police reported seeing Danelo Cavalcante twice on his plan to escape from jail on the search on Friday.

In a report published by abc7, a murderer in the name of Danel Cavalcante, a 34-year-old from Brazil, escaped from jail at Chester County Prison on August 31 by scaling a wall climbing over razor wire, and jumping off a roof. Authorities reported that the escape from jail was planned earlier in May and wasn’t detected by guards for a full Hour.

In 10 days, Cavalcante initiated to escape from jail against the law officers, including tactical teams in full combat, cops on horseback and aircraft, and Tracking dogs.

On Friday afternoon a chopper was dispatched near Longwood Gardens. This is the location where most of the inmates who escaped from jail were spotted several times this week.

Cavalcante was still in the crowd. However, the investigators believed that he was still within 8 to 10 square miles.

The guard of Chester County Prison who did not notice the breakout of the convicted killer, Cavalcante nine days ago was fired on Thursday based on the district attorney’s office.

The guard was a veteran of the prison for 18 years and he was not identified.

On a video, it was spotted that the killer was walking towards a doorway and then spent a moment looking over his shoulder. Cavalcante then places his hands on the wall and feet on the other, then scales the walls while parallel to the ground.

According to Acting Warden Howard Holland, the fire guards were also on the tower but hadn’t seen the person who escaped from the jail.

Inside the command center

Staff are working 12 hours just to help the inmate.

In another report published by CBS News, the investigation was in a thorough situation where state troopers, customs, and border agents, and the FBI were manning the phones and taking strict law enforcement on the place. They are also watching the live camera streams from the helicopter’s aerial view.
A giant map was also placed to protect the perimeter for the trooper vehicles to be dispatched accordingly.
Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Co. George Bivens told the reporters on Friday that they are asking for help from the other agencies to have additional manpower in capturing the killer who escaped from jail. According to him, they got 350 from the north close to 400 who are working.

Security increased for the Mushroom Festival

There was a longtime tradition in Kennett Square which is Mushroom Festival and it is set to begin. However, there was still an increase in manhunts who escaped from jail. Security was increased for this two-day festival where tons of people are estimated to join.
The Mushroom Festival is outside the search perimeter but the organizers of the event are still preparing. Gale Ferranto the Mushroom Festival organizer said that they planned the event where the exhibits, number of vendors, and dispatch security are around the corner.

Inmate Caught on Camera Again

Longwood Gardens closed early and evacuated among the massive enforcement response on Thursday night.

According to Action News, it was due to the image of Cavalcante, a prisoner who escaped from jail, on a trail camera on Longwood Gardens property. This was captured last Wednesday but not reviewed until Thursday afternoon after the law enforcement are looking to trail cameras within the perimeter.

Longwood Gardens sent out a test message ordering those on the property to take care and take precautions. The garden will be closed until further notice.

From the time of escape, there are a lot of sightings were captured near Longwood Gardens and around the area and the police believe that it might be Cavalcante.

Cavalcante changed from a nice neighbor to a jealous boyfriend, the victim’s sister says

Cavalcante was convicted of murder after killing his girlfriend in 2021 at Schuylkill Township. He stabbed her 38 times in front of her two young children.

The sister of the victim, Sarah Brandao told CNN in her interview that Cavalcante seemingly changed over time and exuded jealousy and threats to Deborah after her death.

Sarah who is now living near their house and was taking care of Deborah’s children and her daughter in Pennsylvania was terrified that the killer escaped from jail. In an interview with CNN, she wasn’t able to sleep well after Cavalcante escaped from jail. She can take a nap but wake up with fright.

Sarah recalled that he was extremely jealous of Deborah that when he got drunk he was a different person that he kept going through on her cellphone.

Resident Joining the Search

One of the residents, Ryan Stiles, was also joining the search. He was nervous about his family that lived in the neighborhood.

He said that he grabbed his pistol and went alone to the woods for his own search. He said that he was familiar with the terrain and had an idea of where to look. He said that he was searching around Brandywine River because the killer might look for water.

However, the Police advised the residents to leave the search to the authorities. Lt Col George Bivens him he couldn’t control the decision of these people but reminded them that they had no authority to conduct this action and it might put them in trouble.

8:33- Cavalcante’s block entered the exercise yard.
8:51- Cavalcante escaped from jail by crab walking on the wall then pushed his way to the razor wire ran across the roof and went to more razor wire again.
9:35- Cavalcante block went back to the unit from the yard.
9:45- Officers of Cavalcante block notice that someone is missing
9:48- Officers informed the control center that he was missing and thought he went to the phone visiting room but he was not there.
9:50- There was a special count and the prison was locked down.
10:01: The public escape siren was sounded and 911 was notified.

These are some of the images of the killer who escaped the jail at Longwood Gardens.

Cavalcante was spotted by a resident in the area of Chandler Road in Pennsbury Township on Tuesday night. Bivens said that they searched for hours but couldn’t find him.

He was also spotted around 1:43 a.m. at the 1800 block of Lenape Road in Pocopson Township on September 2, 1.5 miles from the prison. Police also reported that they saw Cavalcante the next day from a distance by a state trooper who chased him but lost him eventually.

Ruan Drummond also said that he saw Cavalcante inside his house on Friday around 11:45 p.m. Police arrived but he managed to escape back into the thick wood and brush after taking some food.

Targeted search area

Police widened their search for the killer who escaped from jail.

The borders of the current search are Route 1 east to Parkersville Road, north to Route 52 to Lenape Unionville Road, west to Northbrook Road, Northbrook Road south to Rt. 926, and west to North Walnut Road.

Cavalcante was convicted of first-degree murder on Aug. 16 after stabbing his former girlfriend. He was convicted of life in prison without parole last week and scheduled to be transferred to a state correctional institution in four weeks.

Prosecutors reported that he killed his girlfriend to stop her from telling the police about his charges in Brazil. He was captured in Virginia after killing his girlfriend and believed he was trying to return to his home country.

Residents can help by securing their property checking on neighbors keeping an eye on the security cameras and immediately calling the police if there are suspicious persons.
