Namira Salim, a Pakistani adventurer, is set to make history as the first Pakistani to reach space on Virgin Galactic’s next mission, Galactic 04.
The mission is scheduled to launch from New Mexico’s Spaceport America on October 5th.
Namira Salim expressed her excitement on social media, noting her mission to inspire girls, women, and youth to reach for the stars.
Galactic 04 will carry three passengers, including Namira Salim, to suborbital space before returning.
The flight will also include Beth Moses, Virgin Galactic’s chief astronaut instructor. Namira Salim is the founder and chairperson of Space Trust.

Namira Salim was one of the first 100 people to book a ticket with Virgin Galactic in 2006.
According to Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Namira Salim is a Pakistani explorer and artist who holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University.
Namira Salim played a key role in establishing diplomatic accreditation between Pakistan and Monaco in 2009. Namira Salim has been officially recognized as the ‘First Pakistani Astronaut’ by the government of Pakistan.
OPF added that Namira Salim is also a peace activist and was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2011. She founded SpaceTrust, a non-profit initiative that promotes space as a new frontier for peace. Namira Salim’s art has been showcased at top UN and UNESCO summits, and Namira Salim has received awards for her efforts to promote peace and harmony.
