What was supposed to be a happy celebration turned into tragedy. An elaborate firework display at a wedding ceremony in Iraq turned into a deadly fire, killing at least 100 people, and injuring another 150.
The deadly fire broke out at the Haitham Hall in Qaraqosh, engulfing the ceiling while guests were eagerly awaiting the newlyweds’ first dance.
During the deadly fire, burning debris and chunks of the ceiling fell, causing panic among the guests who tried to flee.
Thick black smoke filled the venue, leaving many trapped inside. It is reported that the bride and groom were feared to have died from the deadly fire.
Preliminary evidence suggests that fireworks started the deadly fire. Nine employees of the venue have been arrested, and arrest warrants have been issued for four others.

Investigations are underway, and the prime minister has ordered an investigation into the incident.
