In Chicago, a police officer was injured, and two suspects were captured after the carjacking suspect who was driving the stolen car crashed into a building in the Pilsen neighborhood.
The carjacking suspect initially got stuck between a light pole and the structure after the crash.
However, the said carjacking suspect managed to drive a block before escaping with another male passenger in the car.
However, both the carjacking suspect who was driving and the other passenger of the stolen car were later apprehended.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital with a leg injury and is in good condition.
Further details are currently unknown, and an investigation is ongoing by Area One detectives.
According to the report of CBS News, the stolen car that the carjacking suspect was driving and crashed was a blue Ford Fusion. The car also suffered significant damage to its front part.
CBS News added in the report that the Chicago Police Department officer got the injury in the leg after the carjacking suspect driving the stolen car backed up and hit the officer.
The vehicle had been reported stolen in a carjacking incident the previous day. In a video posted by CBS News, it can be seen the injured officer limping while walking towards the ambulance.
