Hitting a home once more means a new record broken for Miguel Cabrera.
Hitting A Home Run Closer To Breaking Of More Records
Miguel Cabrera had a slow start in his final homestand at Comerica Park, not hitting a home run and going 0-for-3 in the series opener against the Royals. However, he made up for it in the next game by hitting a home run.
His hitting a home run is his fourth of the season and 511th of his career, tying him with Mel Ott for 25th all-time. In this event, his hitting a home run, also tied him for second in franchise history with Norm Cash, with Al Kaline’s record of 399 remaining out of reach.
If Cabrera is hitting a home run one more time in the final series of the season, he will tie himself with Ernie Banks and Eddie Matthews as stated by a published article of Audacy.
Detroit Tigers’ Special Game
In a published article by the South Francisco Chronicle, It was a special game for the Tigers as Miguel Cabrera, a two-time MVP and Triple Crown winner, was honored on the field before the game. Cabrera went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as the designated hitter for the Tigers.
The A’s, who have now lost eight in a row, played eight consecutive games without ever having the lead in any inning, a first in franchise history.
Despite the loss, A’s starter Luis Medina was excited to have faced Cabrera, noting his impact on the game and his teammates as a special Hall of Famer.
