The suspect who matched the DNA found in a pizza crust is being held without bail.
Serial Killing Suspect Is Held Held Without Bail
In court, prosecutors revealed that DNA from the serial killing suspect, who is also being held without bail, Rex Heuermann’s cheek swab matches the DNA found on a pizza crust. This was previously used to link him, the suspect being held without bail, to one of the victims.
Heuermann is currently being held without bail. The suspect being held without bail was arrested on murder charges for the killings of three women found on Long Island’s Gilgo Beach.
He has pleaded not guilty and is still being held without bail. The arrest of the man being held without bail came 13 years after the discovery of multiple human remains near the beach.
According to a published article by Scripps News, the prosecutors have stated that the DNA evidence of the man being held without bail removes all doubt. However, the lawyer of the man being held without bail argues that the significance of the DNA sample is questionable.
Five Thousand Documents
In a published article by Newsday, such new evidence was part of over 5,000 documents that were turned over to Heuermann’s defense team.
Prosecutors have expanded their investigation to include the killings of all 10 victims found in the Gilgo Beach area.
Heuermann’s defense attorney argues that the DNA evidence is not conclusive and that there are still other possible sources for the hair found at the scene.
