A man was arrested by Fort Wayne Police at a home in the 3700 block of S. Barr Street after an hours-long standoff.

The SWAT combined with the Fort Wayne Police talked with the suspect using bullhorns to get them out of the home voluntarily. The Fort Wayne Police at the scene said that they deployed a battering ram to ram the front door where Trae Bennet, 28-year-old had been arrested.
In a report by 21Alive, Bennet was accused by the Fort Wayne Police of Domestic Battery caused by moderate bodily injury, invasion of privacy with a prior conviction, and criminal confinement.
According to the court documents, the Fort Wayne Police were called to the Barr Street Home around 3 p.m. on Wednesday because of a battery report.
Another report by KSAT, in a report by the Fort Wayne Police officer who arrived at home, Bennett beat his girlfriend. The officer reported that the woman had extensive bruising all over her body with two black eyes and a swollen face on her right side.
The victim said to the Fort Wayne Police that she was beaten on Sept. 22 and that she lost consciousness during the attack on Bennett. The Court also documented that Bennett has a history of domestic violence against his girlfriend. The police officer said that the woman was given an active order of domestic violence against his girlfriend that was issued on June 26.
According to the probable cause document, the victim told an FWPD victim advocate on Thursday that Bennett was sitting next to her and that she was unable to leave the house because of him.
Additionally, documents reveal that Bennett was unaware that the woman was speaking with the advocate.
Fort Wayne Police said that the negotiators tried their best to reach both Bennett and the woman inside the house but they had no response. The Fort Wayne Police believe that the girlfriend was held by her boyfriend inside the house.
