According to kfvs12.com, In Cape Girardeau, a dramatic police chase unfolded after a traffic stop in the early hours of Wednesday morning, involving the Cape Girardeau Police Department. The incident began when an officer from the Cape Girardeau Police Department tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation around 2 a.m. near N. Lorimier Street and Themis St. However, instead of complying with the stop, the driver opted to flee, initiating a high-speed pursuit that spanned several blocks.

The chase eventually led the driver into Shawnee Park, where they attempted to navigate through the grass and rejoin Hwy. 74 with the Cape Girardeau Police Department in pursuit. Unfortunately, this attempt ended in a crash as the vehicle veered into a ditch.

Undeterred, the driver abandoned the truck allowing it to roll across S. Minnesota Ave. and crash into another ditch on the opposite side of the road, a situation closely monitored by the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Undeterred, the driver abandoned the truck, allowing it to roll across S. Minnesota Ave. and crash into another ditch on the opposite side of the road, a situation closely monitored by the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Officers from the Cape Girardeau Police Department later discovered the driver trying to escape through a heavily wooded area. They successfully apprehended the driver, who was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a local hospital via EMS for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers and consequences associated with fleeing from law enforcement during a pursuit, highlighting the dedication of the Cape Girardeau Police Department to maintaining public safety.
