Michael Anthony Williams’ New Charges

Memphis basketball recruit Michael Anthony Williams is facing three additional felony charges in connection to a shooting incident on March 27. Michael Anthony Williams was ordered to appear in court for arraignment on a total of nine charges.

Michael Anthony Williams was initially charged with assault and firing into an occupied vehicle, which could lead to a 28-year prison sentence if convicted. The new charges would add eight months in prison each for Michael Anthony Williams.

Testimony from witnesses indicated that Michael Anthony Williams, also known as Mikey Williams, had made threats and was seen with a gun. Michael Anthony Williams is currently enrolled in online classes at Memphis and remains on the roster, but his status with the program will be determined after the court case is resolved.

According to a published article by AP News, Michael Anthony Williams had a lucrative endorsement deal with Puma. Michael Anthony Williams has also deactivated his social media accounts.

Mikey Williams’ Delayed Debut

In a published article by ClutchPoints, while Williams’ debut with Memphis will be delayed, there remains a possibility that he could play basketball again, depending on the outcome of the trial. Williams’ arraignment is scheduled for October 24.
