According to the recent report published by ABC News, in December 04, 2023, in the early hours of Sunday morning, a horrifying incident unfolded in the Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, New York. A suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, went on a rampage, fatally stabbing four people, including two children aged 11 and 12, in a residence. The chaos escalated as Gordon allegedly set fire to the home’s couch and attacked two police officers from New York Police Department with a kitchen knife. The New York Police Department (NYPD) officers, both seasoned veterans, managed to stop the assailant in a dramatic confrontation, leaving one officer injured but successfully halting the violent spree

The tragedy began when a distressed young female made a harrowing 911 call reporting that her cousin was killing family members. Responding swiftly, two New York Police Department (NYPD) patrol officers, with 28 and 16 years of service, encountered Gordon in the driveway, carrying luggage. What seemed like a routine questioning turned into a life-threatening situation as Gordon attacked the officers with a kitchen knife.

One officer from New York Police Department sustained a slash to the face, and the other suffered a cut to the head, but their swift and courageous response, including a well-aimed shot by the 28-year veteran, thwarted the assailant. The suspect, who had been visiting relatives in Queens, not only left a trail of devastation but also ignited a fire, hindering immediate access to the victims.
