THE WINNING LOTTERY TICKET ALMOST JEOPARDIZED

Paul Marshall from Indianapolis, Indiana, quickly lost his luck when he saw that a checker had torn up his $50,000 Powerball ticket.

Marshall took the winning ticket back to the store where he got it in November to make sure it was real. But the staff tore up the ticket out of habit according to the Indiana Chronicle after making sure they knew the winning numbers. Because of this, Marshall found himself in a scary position where his money was at risk.

Fortunately, the Hoosier Lottery Commission stepped in, looked at security footage of what happened, and did a full probe. The fact that they ultimately agreed to Marshall’s payout shows that this lucky turn of events was unusual.

However, this was not always the case; some lottery winners haven’t had as much luck. Drena Harris, after learning of her win of $500 from a scratch-off ticket, shared her happiness on social media. One of her Facebook friends used the picture of her winning scratch card to trick a store worker into giving them the prize.

Harris lost her lottery wins and tried to get her money back from the lottery commission, but was turned down. She took her case to court, but the shop where she bought the ticket had been closed for months, so there was no proof to look at.
