Isaiah Stevens Powers No. 17 Colorado State’s Comeback Victory After Slow Start
After losing at home to Saint Mary’s, the Rams started slowly but rallied with a 20-2 first-half surge to win. The game wasn’t perfect, but Colorado State coach Niko Medved praised the team. Stevens’ silky shooting propelled him closer to being the program’s all-time leading scorer, needing 14 more points to surpass Pat Durham. All-time leader Becky Hammon has 2,740 points.
Stevens’ score and game-winning intensity impressed Medved. Stevens had 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Nique Clifford, Taviontae Jackson, and Patrick Cartier each scored 13 for the Rams’ balanced offense. Clifford’s nine rebounds helped Colorado State’s 36-12 paint advantage. At least 11 players on the Rams’ bench helped keep the lead.
Armon Muldrew scored 16 points and Brevin Walter 13 for the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves, who played an exhibition game. After a small lead in the first half, CSU-Pueblo struggled against Colorado State’s defense. Coach Matt Hammer praised the Rams’ defense and Stevens’ poise and influence.
