A South Carolina Couple’s Case

A South Carolina couple was accused of burning a cross in their yard and had their home searched by federal agents. The FBI is investigating the South Carolina couple for civil rights violations.

The South Carolina couple is also investigated due to allegations of racial discrimination and harassment. This incident caused by the South Carolina couple has raised concerns in the local community.

It also prompted the FBI to collaborate with local organizations to address these concerns regarding the South Carolina couple. The South Carolina couple has been charged with second-degree harassment, and the NAACP has initiated its investigation into the matter.

According to a published article by kcrg.com, the South Carolina couple has also been arrested by the police for using hate speech and harassing other neighbors. Although South Carolina currently lacks a hate crime law, there are demands for lawmakers to enact one in the state.

An Incident On Thanksgiving Weekend

In a published article by FOX 8 News, the said incident took place on Thanksgiving weekend, and witnesses recorded the incident and reported repeated threats from their neighbors.

Cross-burnings are symbols of hate associated with the Ku Klux Klan, and the Supreme Court allows bans on cross-burnings only when intended to intimidate.

One of the white defendants was heard using a racial slur towards the Black couple, posted threats on social media, and shared their address.
