Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf faced questioning about her role in removing Joe Biden’s name from a search warrant during the Hunter Biden investigation, but she declined to provide specific details.
Former U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf Faces Scrutiny Over Biden Search Warrant Controversy
In her testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, Wolf stated that she couldn’t discuss the email instructing the removal of “Political Figure 1,” identified as Joe Biden, from the draft warrant. Despite persistent questioning, Wolf insisted that her decision was not politically motivated and aligned with Department of Justice (DOJ) policy.
The controversy arises amid accusations from IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who claim that Wolf gave Hunter Biden preferential treatment, impeding the investigation. Wolf recently left the DOJ following these allegations.
The House Ways and Means Committee released documents supporting the whistleblowers’ claims, including an email where Wolf instructed FBI Agent Joshua Wilson to exclude Joe Biden’s name from the warrant.

Despite IRS whistleblower accusations, Wolf denied any political bias and defended her actions, asserting that they were consistent with DOJ policy. The controversy also implicates potential interference in the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) aspect of the Hunter Biden probe.
House Republicans released a report supporting the whistleblowers’ claims, while the White House countered the allegations in a memo. Hunter Biden faces ongoing legal challenges, including federal tax and gun charges.
