Starting from January 1, China will simplify applications for Chinese tourist visa for US citizens. This simplification of applications for Chinese tourist visa for US citizens is part of China’s efforts to revive tourism and boost its economy after a decline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Applicants of Chinese tourist visa for US citizens will no longer be required to submit air ticket bookings or hotel reservations. Even an invitation letter is not needed anymore with the simplification of the application of Chinese tourist visa for US citizens.
Previously, before the simplification of the application of Chinese tourist visa for US citizens, China had already allowed passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia to visit without visas for up to 15 days.
Additionally, aside from the simplification of the application of Chinese tourist visa for US citizens, China expanded its visa-free transit policy to include 54 countries.
According to CNA, despite the easing of restrictions on the application of Chinese tourist visa for US citizens, the number of inbound tourists to China remains low compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Recovery Only At 60%
In a published article by BNN Breaking, to boost economic growth, the relaxation of visa requirements for US tourists is aimed at stimulating international flights to China, which have only rebounded to 60% of their pre-pandemic levels. The relaxation of visa requirements for US tourists is intended to further stimulate economic growth.
