Makai Matthew Summers, 19, Faces Charges for Stabbing and Assault While on Probation For Previous Offenses
A recent development has occurred at the Grand Forks County Courthouse where Makai Matthew Summers, a resident of Fargo, has pleaded not guilty to the accusations of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder.
Summers has been charged with multiple counts of stabbing Michael Allen Torrey Jr. on August 24, 2023, according to an indictment. Particularly emphasizing the gravity of the circumstance is the maximum of twenty years in prison and $20,000 in sanctions associated with the attempted murder charge.
In addition to this, Summers is charged with instigating an altercation with a correctional officer at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center while in custody.

Summers was subsequently required to undertake a mental health evaluation, the results of which determined that he was fit to continue with legal proceedings. It is worth mentioning that Summers committed these offenses while he was on probation for prior transgressions, which encompassed simple assault and terrorizing. As a result, the previous case was reopened. Although the hearing for the revocation of probation was postponed, a new date for the proceeding has not yet been established.
Additionally, it has been determined that Summers will participate in a final dispositional conference on April 4 regarding the two cases.
