A man convicted of federal charges of a knife attack is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
Knife Attack On New Year’s Eve
Trevor Bickford pleaded guilty to federal charges for a knife attack on three New York Police Department officers in Times Square on New Year’s Eve in 2022. Bickford, who came from Maine to carry out a jihadist attack, pleaded guilty to charges of a knife attack, attempted murder, and assault on government officials.
He could face up to 120 years in prison due to his charges of a knife attack and is scheduled to be sentenced in April. Bickford targeted the celebration as an opportunity for a knife attack, violence, and hatred in the name of jihad.
He admitted to the unsuccessful knife attack because none of the officers died, and he did not achieve martyrdom. Bickford was shot and arrested by officers on the scene after his failed knife attack attempt.
According to a published article by Fox News, the failed knife attack led to security adjustments for this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square. Aside from the federal charges of a knife attack, he is also facing additional charges from the Manhattan district attorney.
Terrorists Should Be Held Accountable
In a published article by the Department Of Justice, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland emphasized that Bickford’s guilty plea serves as a warning that terrorists who target and attack law enforcement and endanger the American people will be held accountable.
