A 60-year-old retiree stumbled upon two original ‘Friends’ scripts, forgotten for over two decades, during a home cleanup. Having worked at London’s Fountain Studios, where iconic ‘Friends’ episodes were filmed, the former studio admin found scripts from “The One with Ross’s Wedding Part I” and “The One with Ross’s Wedding Part II.”
Unexpected Discovery and Reluctant Decision
The retiree, who wishes to stay anonymous, uncovered the scripts in a bin on set after filming and stored them in his office drawer. Initially considering throwing them away during a recent move, he opted to have them valued at Hansons Auctioneers.
The scripts, dating back 25 years, were found alongside ‘Friends’ memorabilia, including DVDs, a yellow cab sticker, and a production crew hoodie. Despite not being a huge fan, the retiree realized their value and decided to put them up for auction, with an estimated value of $650.
Amanda Butler from Hansons Auctioneers expressed amazement at the find, noting that the cast and crew were instructed to destroy scripts to prevent leaks. These two, however, escaped destruction and will be auctioned on January 12.

The retiree, who admits not being a big ‘Friends’ fan, shared that the scripts were discovered in impeccable condition inside a cardboard box in his bedside drawer, overlooked for a quarter of a century. Alongside the scripts, DVDs of the fifth and sixth seasons, a yellow cab sticker, and a ‘Friends’ hoodie from the production crew were also part of the unexpected find.
Originally tasked with ensuring the set was cleared after filming, the former studio administrator revealed his uncertainty about what to do with the scripts when he found them in a bin on set. Opting to preserve them in his office drawer, the retiree unintentionally became the custodian of these overlooked relics, providing a unique glimpse into the show’s behind-the-scenes history.
