A Fine Fabric Care Employee’s Former Employee’s Case
Diana Michelle Cryer, a former employee of Fine Fabric Care in Butte, Montana, embezzled over $78,000 from the company. The Fine Fabric Care’s former employee had moved to Texas before the theft was discovered and was charged with a felony.
Fine Fabric Care’s former employee appeared in court via Zoom in November and was given a five-year suspended sentence with a restitution order of $80,184.49. Prosecutors argued against a deferred sentence to Fine Fabric Care’s former employee’s case, emphasizing the impact on the business and its employees.
The judge agreed that future employers of Fine Fabric Care should be aware of the trust issue. Fine Fabric Care’s former employee had forged checks, used company credit and debit cards, and made unauthorized withdrawals.
According to a published article by Montana Standard, Fine Fabric Care’s former employee initially denied wrongdoing but later confessed, claiming she didn’t realize the amount she had taken.
Fine Fabric Care former employee pleaded guilty and her attorney requested virtual sentencing, highlighting her lack of criminal record and desire to make amends. The court opted for a suspended sentence instead.
