China’s Issue With Military Corruption

New revelations of military corruption in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have affected the confidence in their military capabilities. The military corruption includes missiles filled with water instead of fuel and malfunctioning missile silos.

President Xi Jinping responded by removing several PLA leaders involved in the military corruption scandal. However, despite the military corruption, the PLA is still rapidly modernizing, and Xi remains committed to enhancing their capabilities.

China’s defense spending, which may be as high as $700 billion annually, indicates its dedication to military advancement despite issues of military corruption. Despite all the chaos about the military corruption, they still have a vast naval force, growing capabilities in space, cyberspace, and electronic warfare, and a significant advantage in air forces near Taiwan.

According to a published article by The Heritage Foundation, the PLA Rocket Force is progressing amidst the military corruption issues, with China leading in missile technology, particularly hypersonics. Therefore, though military corruption poses challenges for the PLA, they are still a formidable and rapidly modernizing military force.

Indications Of Being Lacking

In a published article by Business Insider, the existence of such serious problems of corruption in this force may indicate a lack of preparedness, which could significantly impact China’s ability.
