The News Tribune recently reported about the United Auto Workers (UAW) union has endorsed President Joe Biden for re-election, emphasizing his commitment to labor rights and contrast with former President Trump’s stance. The endorsement, announced by UAW President Shawn Fain, comes after a unanimous vote at the union’s national conference, highlighting Biden’s historic visit to a UAW picket line in 2020.
Biden’s Pro-Union Track Record
Fain underscored Biden’s supportive actions, stating, “Instead of talking trash about our union, Joe Biden stood with us to save Belvidere and save that community.”
Attendees praised Biden’s commitment to the labor movement, citing his role in negotiating new contracts with the Big Three automakers, which include substantial raises.
Biden, in his keynote speech, highlighted achievements during his presidency, such as significant investment, advanced manufacturing, and the use of union labor in electric vehicle production.

Energized Union with New Leadership
Newly elected leaders, including Fain and Vice President Mike Booth, have set a tone not only for the UAW but for the entire country, according to conference attendees.
The union, buoyed by a successful November ratification of contracts with automakers, remains committed to continued advocacy, emphasizing the need to “fight like hell.”
Attendees, notably Douglas Collins, a representative from the Lima Engine Plant, express heightened enthusiasm this year, viewing the union’s efforts as a broader movement for the entire nation.
