The cities in Virginia are renowned for their diverse population and rich history and geography. However, multiple cities in Virginia have experienced high crime rates.

According to a published article by the Southwest Journal, Roanoke, for instance, is one of the cities in Virginia that stands out with one of the highest crime rates in the entire United States, recording 44 crimes per thousand residents, including a notable number of motor vehicle thefts.

Similarly, another one of the unsafe cities in Virginia is Martinsville which surpasses the national average crime rate significantly, with residents facing a 1 in 36 chance of falling victim to crime.

Waynesboro is also on the list of the most dangerous cities in Virginia which exhibits a crime rate higher than the national average, with individuals having a 1 in 49 chance of becoming victims.

Lynchburg, one of the other cities in Virginia, has a crime rate that is 40% above the national average, resulting in a 1 in 40 chance of being victimized.

Even Hampton, despite being home to a naval base and one of the better cities in Virginia, experiences a significantly higher crime rate than the national average, with individuals facing a 1 in 36 chance of becoming victims.

One Of The Least Stressed Cities In America

In a published article by 12NEWSNOW.com, Virginia Beach, a city in Hampton Roads, is ranked as one of the least stressed cities in America, coming in fourth place. Factors contributing to this ranking include low levels of crime, poverty, and unemployment, despite the city’s cost of living being higher than the national average.

The only cities surpassing Virginia Beach in terms of low stress are Madison, Wisconsin, in third place, Gilbert, Arizona, in second place, and Boise, Idaho, which claims the title of the least stressed city in America.
