Notorious Cities In Mississippi

The cities in Mississippi have a slightly higher crime rate than the national average and similar rates for violent crime. Surprisingly, one of the smallest cities in Mississippi with a population of less than 15,000 has the highest number of assaults and homicides in the state.

Despite this, cities in Mississippi did not make it into the top ten list of the most dangerous states in the country for 2024. According to a published article by the Southwest Journal, one of the most dangerous cities in Mississippi is Cleveland, with a population of 10,944, where there were 678 property crimes and 97 violent crimes reported.

Natchez is also among the dangerous cities in Mississippi with a population of 14,497, has also experienced a surge in crime, including robberies, assaults, and murders. Corinth, with a population of 14,461, suffers from the highest rate of burglaries in the state. Another one of the worst cities in Mississippi is Vicksburg that has current crime rate that includes car theft and assault, that is deterring many people from visiting.

Hattiesburg is also one of the most notorious cities in Mississippi, known for its former lumber and railroad industries, has experienced a rise in crime, climbing four places in rankings from the previous year.

Amazon Web Services Plans Of Investments

In a published article by Interesting Engineering, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans to invest $10 billion in Mississippi, which is the largest capital investment in the state’s history. The investment will be used to build two advanced data center complexes in Madison County.

This is a significant expansion of Amazon’s presence in Mississippi, as the company has already invested $2.3 billion in the state since 2010. This previous investment includes the establishment of fulfillment and sortation centers, delivery stations, solar farms, a wind farm, and a Whole Foods Market location.
