California state lawmakers have recently introduced a series of bills that are focused on racist policies and practices. The bills are aimed at providing reparations to Black Americans who have been affected by racist policies and practices.
The package that is focused on addressing racist policies includes 14 measures and covers areas such as education, civil rights, and criminal justice. It also addresses property taken through “race-based” eminent domain cases aside from racist policies and practices.
The new series of bills focusing on racist policies also proposes state funding for specific groups. However, the package focusing on racist policies and practices does not include financial compensation for descendants of Black slaves.
