Green Bay Police Officer’s Criminal Charges
Officer Matthew Knutson of the Green Bay Police Department in Wisconsin will resign at the end of this year after pleading no contest to striking a man with his squad car in 2021. The department concluded its internal investigation and the Green Bay Police officer informed Chief Chris Davis of his decision during a meeting.
The Green Bay Police officer was initially charged with felony misconduct and misdemeanor negligent operation of a vehicle in April 2022 and was placed on paid administrative leave in October. The Green Bay Police officer pleaded no contest to the misconduct charge in October and was fined $500 by the Brown County Circuit Judge.
Video evidence showed the Green Bay Police officer hitting the man with his squad car while he was fleeing from a traffic stop. The Green Bay Police officer claimed that the man ran directly in front of his vehicle, but prosecutors disputed this, stating that the video did not support his claim.
According to a published article by Fox News, police only discovered the incident made by the Green Bay Police officer in October 2022. The Green Bay Police officer also did not include the collision in his initial report.
Completed Internal Investigation
In a published article by NewsTimes, the completion of the internal investigation regarding the officer led to a fine of $500 by Brown County Circuit Judge Donald Zuidmulder.
