Abraham Lincoln’s bronze hat statue in Waterfront Park, Louisville, Kentucky, along the Ohio River, is missing.
Abraham Lincoln’s bronze hat was stolen
The Associated Press reports that the bronze top hat from a statue of Abraham Lincoln by the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky, is missing at the moment. Sculptor Ed Hamilton posted about the theft on his Facebook, saying that he couldn’t believe someone would have the nerve to take the copper hat off of its base.
The 12-foot figure of Lincoln, which was dedicated in 2009, shows the former president sitting on a rock with his back to the Ohio River and his missing top hat resting on a rock next to him.
Park officials are looking at video recordings to see if they can find any suspicious behavior. Hamilton told the Courier-Journal that he is still hoping that the stolen hat will be returned.
