Crosby’s Stellar Performance and Shootout Goal Secure Penguins’ Win
Crosby’s two goals and an assist won the game and matched him with Mark Recchi for 13th in NHL points with 1,533. Jansen Harkins’ 12th-round shootout goal won.
First shootout goals: Montreal’s Nick Suzuki, Cole Caulfield, Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang, and Crosby. Sean Monahan and Lars Eller scored seven rounds later for the Canadiens and Penguins. Finally, Harkins, who played minimal ice time, won the 12th round.
Again, the Devils beat the Bruins 2-1 in overtime. Jack Hughes won the game for the Devils in overtime after Dawson Mercer tied it in the third. Vitek Vanecek’s 24 saves helped the Devils win their seventh from nine.

Islanders Extend Win Streak to 4 with Holmstrom’s Late Goal, Jets’ Vilardi Shines in Return to LA, Avalanche Triumph Over Sabres
New York Islanders triumphed 4-3 against Anaheim Ducks, extending their winning streak to four games. Simon Holmstrom’s short-handed goal with 1:33 left in regulation won it. The Islanders are 6-0-1 after Mathew Barzal, Kyle Palmieri, and Casey Cizikas scored.
Gabriel Vilardi returned to Los Angeles to help the Jets upset the Kings 5-2. Vilardi, acquired by the Jets last summer, scored a goal and three helpers against the Kings in his first game. In Winnipeg’s three-goal second period, Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice.
Two goals and two assists from Valeri Nichushkin and Nathan MacKinnon helped the Colorado Avalanche beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-1. Erik Johnson received a video homage for his Avalanche work before joining Buffalo.
