East Coast cities are being warned of the extreme weather events that are coming with the major storm system.

A Major Storm System’s Effects

Cities along the East Coast are currently experiencing a major storm system with torrential rain, high winds, and severe thunderstorms. Florida and South Carolina have already experienced coastal flooding and power outages due to the major storm system.

Charleston, South Carolina broke daily rainfall records because of the major storm system with 3.86 inches of rain, resulting in road closures and caution for drivers. Washington, D.C., being one of those affected by the major storm system, is under a flash flood watch.

According to a published article by NBC News, New York City is preparing for heavy rain and high winds brought by the major storm system. These preparations are because of the major storm system which is leading to restrictions on certain vehicles crossing bridges and tunnels. Maine is also expecting significant rainfall from the major storm system.

Weekend’s Worries

In a published article by CNN, a powerful storm has started in Florida and will strengthen as it moves up the East Coast throughout the weekend. This storm will bring heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal hazards along its path.

Although it is not expected to be a major snowstorm, it can still disrupt holiday travel and cause power outages. The storm’s track is predicted to follow the Atlantic coast on Sunday and Monday after passing through Florida on Saturday. Around 17 million people in Florida are under threat of severe weather.
