Mark Marion Herron, 34, was arrested by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) for a Kannapolis murder after a January 7 altercation at S&M E-Juice on 1121 S. Cannon Boulevard. First-degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon were charged against Herron.

Kannapolis Police found two people shot at the spot in the early morning. Shovontae Shikim Byers, 23, died at Atrium Cabarrus after being transported there.
Police obtained arrest warrants for Herron as part of the inquiry. VCAT detained Herron at a Charlotte hotel on January 20. After his arrest, Herron is being held without bond in the Cabarrus County Jail.
