Carjacked Car Pursued By Authorities
Washington’s Sheriff Deputies engaged in a high-speed pursuit with a carjacked car after the car was reported being carjacked by a woman at gunpoint by a man believed to be the carnapper. The chase ended in a devastating crash along Washington’s Interstate 5. The entire incident took place last Monday, around midday, when the woman called the authorities regarding her car had been carjacked.
Deputies tracked down the car with the help of an Apple Airtag. The car was then tracked to Federal Way, within a shopping complex. Deputies made efforts to stop the car but the carnapper fled the scene. The chase continued southbound along Interstate 5. It was there when a PIT maneuver was executed by a deputy, which ultimately crashed the car of the suspect.
The suspect tried to escape on foot but was easily caught. The suspect’s car was caught on fire with the female passenger still trapped inside. Fortunately, the woman was rescued immediately
Aftermath Of The Chase
The dry grass within the area also caught on fire from the suspect’s car, causing the fire to spread to the patrol cars of the deputies who responded to the scene. One of the cars had their fires extinguished by the deputies but they had to wait for the fire department to fully extinguish the fire that was spreading.
The suspect was identified by the Sheriff’s Office of Pierce County as Randy Tipa, 27 years old. Tipa is now charged with unlawful possession of firearms, first-degree robbery, identity theft, and attempting to flee from the pursuing law-enforcement vehicle.
