After Nearly Two Years, Uncle and Nephew Arrested in 2022 Homicide by Authorities
In a significant development, two suspects, Reynaldo Paredes, 53, and Yoel Lazano Paredes, 24, uncle and nephew arrested and now face first-degree murder charges in connection with a heinous stabbing that occurred in 2022. The victim, Jorge Mobilla Menendez, 49, was tragically found in a dumpster at a senior community in the south end of West Palm Beach.
The arrest comes after West Palm Beach cops and the U.S. Marshals Service looked into the case for two years. The suspects were caught in West Palm Beach and Freeport, Illinois. They are accused of stabbing Menendez to death after he left a local sports bar early on April 3, 2022.
The discovery of the victim’s body in the dumpster was reported by a Spanish-speaking caller, who stumbled upon the grisly scene while taking out the garbage.

During the ongoing investigation, surveillance video footage and DNA evidence have played crucial roles in identifying the suspects. It was revealed that the younger man’s car, a 2003 white four-door Mercury, was captured on video near the dumpster, leading to confirming evidence and the subsequent arrests.
As a result, Reynaldo Paredes is now in Palm Beach County Jail, and Yoel Lazano Paredes is detained in the Stephenson County Jail in Freeport. The community awaits further developments in this tragic case.
