The changes announced by Denver Mayor Mike Johnston will reduce costs at the Denver Motor Vehicle offices and the Department of Parks and Recreation, saving $5 million. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston also added that more cuts are expected.
In line with Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s announcement, Denver has already spent $42 million supporting over 38,000 migrants. The reductions as announced by Denver Mayor Mike Johnston include changes to migrant services and a decrease in the number of newcomers served.
According to a published article by SmartNews, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston called for more federal financial assistance. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston also emphasized the ability of migrants to obtain work authorization permits.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
In a published article by Denver7, starting later this month, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Denver will no longer process vehicle registration renewals in person. Renewals can be done online, by mail, or at kiosks in grocery stores. The DMV will also have rotating closures for staff.
