Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed a death warrant for a man who confessed to the 1988 rape and murder of a nurse in Brevard County.

Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the warrant for the death penalty for one of the inmates who raped and murdered, and burned a women’s Brevard County condominium way back in 1988.
The judge said that the crime committed was very inhumane and needs to have more justice. According to documents posted Thursday on the Florida Supreme Court website, Inmate James Phillip Barnes, 61-Year-Old now is already scheduled for the death penalty and be executed on August 03, 2023.
He was the suspect behind Patricia “Patsy” Miller death. Barnes is the 5th inmate to die with the lethal injection this year in Florida. James Phillip Barnes admitted a crime after the DNA results found linked to him, he was in prison already for the murder of his wife way back in 1997.

Florida Gov. DeSantis Signed Barnes Death Warrant
Barnes in 1988, entered Miller’s condominium in Melbourne through a bedroom window raped her twice, and kill her with a hammer after that he burned her condominium. According to Brevard County Circuit Judge Lisa Davidson, Barnes is also sentenced to death in 2007 with got canceled. A week after Duane Owen was executed at Florida State Prison for the 1984 murder of a Palm Beach County woman and teenage babysitter, Gov. Ron DeSantis next signed the death warrant of James Philip Barnes.
