Queensland Government To Offer Cash Reward For Information

The government of Queensland, Australia is now offering a $500,000 reward in exchange for any information about the death of Meaghan Louise Rose, a 25-year-old woman that was found dead at the bottom of Point Cartwright Cliffs located at Mooloolaba way back last July 18, 1997. The reward was announced in a news release by the Queensland Police. Authorities deemed Rose’s death “non-suspicious” at first, but when an investigation was opened and new pieces of evidence were found regarding her death, the police urged for more information.

According to the government, the cash reward could also provide immunity against prosecution for any accomplices involved, given that they were not the suspects themselves. Tara Kentwell, Detective Senior Sergeant of Queensland Police, stated that they are currently encouraging the members of Rose’s community to “think back” for any information they might have missed.

After The Reward Was Announced

Hours after the reward was announced, a 70-year-old man who was identified by the police as Keith, came in last Sunday for questioning regarding the investigation but disappeared around Victoria’s Portland area, as reported by Nine News. Keith’s care was seen at the parking lot of Cape Nelson Lighthouse around 5:30 p.m.

The reward for Rose’s death urged leaders across Australia to offer cash rewards for any information about the state’s other cold cases. A recent reward was also announced, amounting to $1 million.
