The final proposal for reparations in California left the federal legislators with two choices.
The state legislatures of California were offered by reparation task force, with two reparations choices in regards the racial discrimination that black people in the past that still affects their descendants now. The reparation choices were either to pay $1 million dollars or each qualifying African-American residents or to offer other amendments.
Discussions on reparations for historical injustices have gained significant traction in the present. As part of these ongoing conversations, a final reparation proposal has emerged in California, suggesting a possible $1 million payment to qualified residents.

Reparations have the potential to break the cycle of generational disadvantage. A 1,100 page-long report was presented to the state. The report consists of lists of eligibility for reparations that African-American residents of the state, should receive from the government. The report presented logs of the different plights of both the ancestor and descendants of Black slaves in the states.
Although reparations movement are gaining momentum, some still argue that it is unfair to hold present generations accountable for past injustices. However, pro-reparations factions argue that reparations are a necessary step towards rectifying historical wrongs and promoting social equity.
Reparation Task Force collaborated with economists and policy experts to estimate what the state owed for discrimination on multiple aspects. They joined hands in ensuring just reparations.
Although Reparation Task Force have been actively proposing policies for reparations, the final decision will still come from the legislators.
