Connecticut Governor Announces Beer Tax Reduction as The Result of Biennial State Budget

Announced on June 30, Governor Ned Lamont announced beer tax reduction as the result of the approved state budget in 2021.

Beer Tax Reduction in Connecticut

The governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, announced the beer tax reduction of 16.7%, which was started last July 1. According to The Office of Governor Ned Lamont, this beer tax reduction announcement is part of the reforms Lamont made to support breweries in Connecticut. 

Aside from reducing the beer tax, Lamont also announced the income tax cut in the state, resulting in the joyous celebration of the residents of Connecticut. 

“This tax cut is another way that we can support our locally-owned, small businesses,” Lamont said, as quoted by Bloomberg.com.

How much will be the cost of breweries after the reduction of beer tax?

The Patch revealed the new costs of the breweries in the state after the announcement of the reduction of beer tax.  From $7, the cost of beer per barrel went down to only $6. 

Not only that, the wine, which usually costs $0.24, went down to $0.20. With all these beer tax reductions, the residents who love buying beer will surely express their enjoyment.

Beer tax in Connecticut and other states is part of the excise tax as they are exercised on cigarettes and motors. Beer tax is often collected from the distiller and passed on to the consumers.
